Online Marriage Registration — official documents are issued recognizing the marriage in all Hague Convention countries

Since 2020, it has been possible to officially register a marriage online in the state of Utah, USA. This marriage is recognized in most countries worldwide, including Russia and Indonesia, as well as all Hague Convention countries, including Schengen Agreement countries. You can now formalize your relationship from anywhere in the world in just two weeks, requiring only a passport and a photo. You will receive both an electronic certificate and original documents with an apostille. If you later wish to have a marriage registration stamp in your passport, you will need to provide the Utah certificate with an apostille and its certified translation to the Civil Registry Office in your home country.

An apostille is a special stamp affixed to official documents for use in countries that are signatories to the Hague Convention. This stamp certifies the authenticity of the signature, the capacity in which the person signing the document acted, and, if applicable, the authenticity of the seal or stamp on the document.

Why is an Apostille Necessary?

An apostille is needed for a document issued in one country to be recognized as legal and valid in another country.

Advantages:

  • Ability to register a marriage while being in different countries.
  • Ability to marry regardless of the applicants' citizenship.
  • Official marriage certificate issued in the USA and recognized in all Hague Convention countries — suitable for visa applications, KITAS, or residence permits, and for legalization in Hague Convention countries.
  • Registration of same-sex marriages is possible.

IMPORTANT: Documents will also be apostilled. However, this marriage will only be officially recognized in countries that allow same-sex marriages — a local certificate will be issued upon submission of the relevant application to local marriage registration authorities.

Required Documents:

  • Valid passports of the future spouses.
  • One witness from each side with valid passports.
  • Selfie photos of the future spouses.
  • Paid marriage registration fees.

Marriage Registration Process:

  1. Document Preparation and Fee Payment: We prepare the documents and pay the fee. Choose the marriage registration date — typically, the earliest slots are available 1-1.5 weeks from the application date, sometimes within 1-2 days.
  2. Ceremony via Zoom: Conducted by a minister of the Mormon Church. An unlimited number of people can be invited to the registration, but at least two (your witnesses) must attend. The ceremony lasts 30 minutes.
  3. Exchange of Vows: This cannot be avoided, but the vow can be composed freely without regulation. A translator can be invited to the ceremony.
  4. Electronic Marriage Certificate: Immediately after the ceremony, you will receive an electronic marriage certificate with a government seal — this is sufficient for most visa types, including Family KITAS.
  5. Paper Marriage Certificate: Approximately 3 days later, a paper marriage certificate with a government seal will be ready. About 1 week later, the documents will be apostilled and ready for shipment. Delivery to Indonesia takes an average of 1-1.5 weeks. Delivery to Russia takes up to 1 month.

❗️ If your previous marriage was dissolved less than 2 months ago, you cannot be an applicant for online registration of a new marriage.
